Mutlu was unwanted where he lived. He hadn't done anything — he was just a big dog in a place that had decided dogs were a problem.

He was hurt by someone. He was caught in a dog fight. Then someone complained, and he was taken to the shelter.

One day I saw him in my dream. I asked around: his leg was broken, he had been there two months with no treatment, and that morning they were transferring him to another shelter. He wouldn't have survived it. I took him out the same day.

Surgery saved him. One leg never fully recovered — it has never slowed him down.

Now he is healthy, and still delighted by people and completely uninterested in holding a grudge.

He has been given up on more than once. He only needs one family to decide he never will be again.
